Broadcast overview

Use Manager to broadcast content to one or more devices. Standard and urgent messages can be sent to all devices within the entity. However, additional content types will only be available for devices that have an Advanced license assigned.

Access the broadcast page

To access the broadcast page, perform the following:

 

  1. Go to the Devices page.
  2. Select one or more devices in the list.
  3. Click the Send broadcast  button. 
    The Send broadcast page opens.  


 

Broadcast types

Users can broadcast any of the types listed below. Note that types marked with an asterisk indicate that the broadcast can only target devices where an Advanced license has been assigned. For more details, see the next section.

 

  • Standard messages 
    Messages that appear as a banner at the top of device screens. Text messages can be dismissed by the device users.
     
  • Urgent messages 
    Messages that take up the entire screen, with the option to add a siren sound to the message. Urgent messages can only be terminated from the Manager console.
     
  • Playlist 
    Auto-play a looping carousel of images, videos, and audio files. Users must create a playlist first before broadcasting.
     
  • Webpage 
    Display the contents of a public web page that updates in realtime. Use to display YouTube and other streaming sites.
     
  • Multimedia 
    Select a single image, video, or audio file to display in full-screen on the target devices.
     
  • Presentation files 
    Converts PPTX and PDF files into images and displays them as a slideshow.
     
  • Layout 
    Display a combination of broadcast types using a pre-defined template.

Only Standard and Urgent messages are available if any of the following are true: 

  • All devices selected have no Advanced license
  • Selected devices include at least one device with no Advanced license
  • Manager Basic, no license 
  • Manager Advanced has not been activated

 

 

Broadcasts options

Admins can further customize the following before sending a broadcast:

 

  • Duration of broadcast 
    How long should the broadcast be displayed.
     
  • If users can terminate the broadcast 
    If unchecked, users can tap a button on the screen to end the broadcast.
     
  • When to stop broadcasting 
    Terminate the broadcast manually.
