Standard message

When broadcasted, standard messages are text only messages that appear on a banner at the top of device screens. By default, these messages can be dismissed by the device users.

Create a message

To access the broadcast page to create a standard message, perform the following:

1. Go to the Devices page.
2. Select one or more devices in the list.
3. Click the Send broadcast  button. 
   The Send broadcast page opens.  
4. Click the Standard Message tile. 
   The Standard Message page appears.

Customize the message

On the Standard Message page, provide the following details:

• Standard Message 
  Type the message that appears on the broadcast. Use the Preview window to check how the message will appear on the target devices. Try to keep the message under 1,024 characters. Since this is a required field, other options may not be available until this content is provided.

• Basic Settings 
  Select the broadcast duration:
  • Continuous. Displays the message until device users dismiss the broadcast, or a Manager admin stops the broadcast. 
  • Custom. Sets a custom duration for the broadcast. Message is auto-dismissed once the duration has been reached. 

• Advanced settings 
  Select the Forbid device user from stopping broadcast option to prevent users from stopping the broadcast manually. If not checked, users can stop / hide / dismiss a broadcast from displaying on their device even if the Continuous or Custom duration was set. 

Start the broadcast

Once you are satisfied with the content, click one of the following buttons:

  Send Broadcast 

Starts the broadcast.

 Save as template 

Create a template using the current settings that could be re-used later.

  Back or Cancel 

Return to the Broadcast page and select another broadcast type.

Broadcast behavior

Note the following behavior:

• When broadcasted, standard messages appear on a banner at the top of device screens. 
• If the text is too long to fit within the full width of the device, the text message will auto-scroll from left to right until the whole message is displayed.
• By default, these messages can be dismissed by the device users.
• Standard messages do not support custom formatting. If you need custom formatting, use the Text editor section under the Layout option instead.
