Urgent message

When broadcasted, Urgent messages are text only messages that appear full-screen on a red background. Note that users cannot dismiss or terminate the broadcast on the device, and must be terminated manually from Manager.

Create a message

To access the broadcast page to create an urgent message, perform the following:

1. Go to the Devices page.
2. Select one or more devices in the list.
3. Click the Send broadcast  button. 
   The Send broadcast page opens.  
4. Click the Urgent Message tile. 
   The Urgent Message page appears.

Customize the message

On the Urgent Message page, provide the following details:

• Urgent Message 
  Type the message that appears on the broadcast. Use the Preview window to check how the message will appear on the target devices. Try to keep the message under 300 characters. Since this is a required field, other options may not be available until this content is provided.

• Basic Settings 
  For End time, specify how long the message should be displayed.
  
  
  • None. Message stops only after manually terminated from Manager.
  • Duration. Message stops after a specific length of time has passed.
  • Expiration. Message stops at a specific date and time.

• Advanced settings 
  The following options are available: 
  
  
  • Continue broadcast when device is online 
    Resend message to devices that went offline, but have reconnected again, as long as the End time condition has not been met. Enabled by default for urgent messages.
     
  • Siren 
    Set a siren sound to play when the message is displayed. 

Start the broadcast

Once you are satisfied with the content, click one of the following buttons:

  Send Broadcast 

Starts the broadcast.

 Save as template 

Create a template using the current settings that could be re-used later.

  Back or Cancel 

Return to the Broadcast page and select another broadcast type.

Broadcast behavior

Note the following behavior:

• Urgent messages appear full-screen with a red background. 
• Users will not have the option to dismiss or terminate the broadcast on the device. 
• Urgent messages can only be terminated from Manager.
