Manage apps on Advanced devices
Use Manager to show or hide selected apps on the device. This prevents regular non-admin users from accessing certain apps (like apps used for updating firmware or configuring the system) on target devices. Note the following behavior:
- Apps are not uninstalled or removed from the device, only hidden.
- Admins can restore app visibility should the need arise.
- Affected apps will not appear on the following locations:
- Side toolbar
- App tray
- System dialog popups
Keep in mind that target apps must be installed first before they can be hidden. For more information on installing apps, see the article below:
Advanced license required
This feature is only available for devices assigned with an Advanced license. For more information, see the articles below:

Troubleshooting
To resolve common issues, follow the steps below.
Apps not hidden
If the app is still visible after sending the command, perform the following:
- Verify that the target device is online and accessible from the Manager console.
- Wait for a few more minutes before checking again, in case there are network issues.
Apps still on home screen
Apps added to the device's home screen or shortcut tray may remain visible even after sending the command. To minimize issues, perform the following before using Manager to hide the app:
- Go to the home screen of the target device.
- Locate the app icon for the app to hide.
- Perform a long-press on the app icon until the trash icon appears.
- Drag the app icon to the trash icon.
- Back in the Manager console, follow the steps outlined above to hide the app.
Outdated firmware
Check the firmware of the target device. Some older firmware do not support the hide app command. We highly recommend updating the firmware of the target device to the latest version. For more information on how to use Manager to update firmware, see the article below:
