myViewBoard for Mac
We're introducing a new native myViewBoard app for Mac to replace the previous app.
Get the App
Note that updating the app will replace all previous versions. There is only one myViewBoard app for Mac going forward.
System requirements
Verify first that the target device meets the following requirements:
- Apple silicon or Intel
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later. An Intel Mac must be able to update to Sonoma.
Download and install
The new app is available on the Mac App Store.
- Visit the Mac App Store.
- Search for the myViewBoard app.
- Click Get to download and install.
Updates
If automatic update is enabled, the Mac auto-updates the myViewBoard app when a new update is released. Otherwise, perform the following:
- Open the App Store app.
- Go to the Updates section.
- Update the myViewBoard app.
For more information on how to enable auto-update for apps, see the article below:
Deploy to school Macs
Use Apple School Manager to deploy to compatible devices in your school.
- Get myViewBoard via the following location:
-
Apple School Manager » Apps and Books
-
Apple School Manager » Apps and Books
- Use your MDM solution to assign the myViewBoard app to Macs.
- Updates install automatically. All features work on any plan. Premium Originals are the only paid-plan content.

Once installed, you can start importing your lessons to the new version. Supported file types now inlcude:
- myViewBoard lessons (
.OLF) - PowerPoint presentations (
.PPT,.PPTX) - SMART Notebook (
.notebook) - Interactive Whiteboard (

OLFX
The Mac version introduces support for saving as .OLFX files, which is myViewBoard’s new file format. This new format supports a more comprehensive set of layout information that allows the Mac version to accurately preserve the layout of the original lessons. This aims to resolve issues encountered when importing .PPTX files.
Note that lessons will save as .OLFX by default. Teachers must manually select .OLF on the Save as dialog if they need to maintain compatibility with the Windows and Android versions. The Save as dialog provides a quick description of each format.
- .OLFX: Ensures the PowerPoint layout is accurately preserved. OLFX files currently open on Mac only, but support for other platforms are planned.
- .OLF: Opens on every myViewBoard app. Ensures the best compatibility with other myViewBoard versions. To keep the full PowerPoint layout intact, save as .OLFX.
Since the Windows and Android versions do not support .OLFX yet, these files will show up as greyed out in the myViewBoard file picker. To prevent errors, teachers can see the files but cannot select them. The Mac version also supports additional features which are not yet available on Windows or Android: table line spacing, bullet formatting, and embedded fonts.
⚠️
File Manager compatibility in IFPs
On some IFP models, tapping .OLFX files to open them may not work using the built-in file manager. These file managers show the file with a generic icon and return "Unable to open file" if selected. We recommend the following workarounds:
- Use another file manager (ViewSonic File Manager, Google Files, etc.) to open the
.OLFXfile. - Open the
.OLFXfile from inside myViewBoard: MyLibrary, Google Drive, or the in-app file picker.
Enhancements
This new version has also implemented several enhancements to performance.
- The new app is much lighter which frees up more resources for browsers, videos, and other apps.
- PDF pages open faster and convert in parallel, with a live page counter.
- PowerPoint lessons now keep their tables, bullet lists and fonts as designed. To ensure that the lesson flow stays intact, slides follow the order set in PowerPoint. Hidden slides will stay hidden and are skipped in presentation mode.
