myViewBoard for mac

We're introducing a new native myViewBoard app for Mac (version 1.12.1) to replace the previous app.

Get the App

The new app replaces the previous version when it updates. There is only one myViewBoard app for Mac going forward.

System requirements

Verify first that the target device meets the following requirements:

  • Apple silicon or Intel
  • macOS 14 Sonoma or later. An Intel Mac must be able to update to Sonoma.

Download and install

The new app is available on the Mac App Store.

  1. Visit the Mac App Store.
  2. Search for the myViewBoard app.
  3. Click Get to download and install.

Updates

If automatic update is enabled, the Mac auto-updates the myViewBoard app when a new update is released. Otherwise, perform the following:

  1. Open the App Store app.
  2. Go to the Updates section.
  3. Update the myViewBoard app.

For more information on how to enable auto-update for apps, see the article below:

Deploy to school Macs

Use Apple School Manager to deploy to compatible devices in your school.

  1. Get myViewBoard via the following location:
    • Apple School Manager » Apps and Books

  2. Use your MDM solution to assign the myViewBoard app to Macs.
  3. Updates install automatically. All features work on any plan. Premium Originals are the only paid-plan content.

Supported file types

Once installed, you can start importing your lessons to the new version. Supported file types now inlcude:

  • myViewBoard lessons (.olf), PDF and PowerPoint.
  • SMART Notebook (.notebook) and IWB (.iwb).
  • Promethean Flipchart (.flipchart) and EasiNote (.enb)
New supported formats for this release.
  • Password-protected PDFs prompt for the password.
A wrong password can be retried.

This new version has also implemented several enhancements to performance.

  • The new app is much lighter, leaving more resources for the browser, videos and other apps running in class. CPU use while presenting slides no longer spikes.
  • PDF pages open faster and convert in parallel, with a live page counter.
  • Since PowerPoint slides are now rebuilt properly, a file may take slightly longer to open. The lesson flow stays intact. Slides follow the order set in PowerPoint, and hidden slides stay hidden and are skipped in presentation mode.

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions.

Do teachers need training? +

Most tools are the same or one click closer. The first things teachers notice are browser sign-in and the simpler Magic Box. See Interface Changes above.

How do teachers sign in? +

In the browser. One ViewSonic account works for the app and Hub in both directions: sign in to either and the other doesn't ask again.

Will our existing lessons open? +

Yes. .olf, PDF and PowerPoint files all open.

Can teachers open lessons from other whiteboard software? +

Yes: SMART Notebook, IWB, Promethean Flipchart and EasiNote.

Why does a PowerPoint take a little longer to open? +

Each slide is now rebuilt properly, so charts, SmartArt, templates and fonts look as designed.

Can teachers open a password-protected PDF? +

Yes, via File ▸ Open. The app asks for the password.

Is the Quiz Tool on Mac? +

Yes. Turn it on from the toolbar, with or without signing in.

Does it cost anything? +

Every feature works on any plan. Only premium Originals are part of paid plans.
