Home screen

The vLauncher home screen is the default screen that users see when they turn on their ViewBoards. This document provides a brief walkthrough of the basic functions of vLauncher 3.0 found on the home screen. 

 

Sign-in

Upon turning on, your ViewBoard will first present a sign-in screen.

This sign-in screen provides the following options.

 

 

After sign-in

Note that signing in with an account will trigger automatic integrations when selected apps are accessed:

  • Automatic sign-in to myViewBoard 
  • Automatic sign-in to all related account settings, such as cloud storage access.
  • For Google SSO: Automatic sign-in to popular Google services (such as YouTube and Google Drive) when using supported browsers like Chrome and Firefox.

 

After successful sign-in, vLauncher also applies any previous customizations done to the following settings below.

Home screen

After sign-in, vLauncher loads the home screen where you'll find quick access to applications and input source options. On a fresh install, this screen will display the default wallpaper along with just three app shortcuts. 

 

 

Customize apps

After you have installed additional apps, we highly recommend updating the app shortcuts on the home screen to your most commonly used ones. To customize these shortcuts, perform the following:

 

  1. Use the All apps panel to review all installed applications. 
  2. Afterwards, on the home screen: 
    1. Tap-and-hold on a blank space to open a menu. 
    2. Tap Edit Launcher on this menu. 
       
  3. Note the new items that appear on the homescreen:
    1. A new panel showing which apps could be added
    2. All icons gain a new overlay on the top right
    3. Drop zones that indicate the remaining slots available

  1. Perform the following on the icons: 
    1. Tap Add to create an app shortcut. 
    2. Tap Remove to delete an app shortcut.
    3. You can also press-and-drag apps onto the home screen.
       
  2. Tap Confirm to apply your changes.
    Note that all changes you make here will be saved to your account and automatically applied the next time you sign in.

Change wallpaper

You can also customize the background of the home screen to match your Entity's branding guidelines, or to create a more personalized experience for your users. To customize your wallpaper, perform the following:  

 

  1. On the home screen: 
    1. Tap-and-hold on a blank space to open a menu. 
    2. Tap Change wallpaper on this menu. 
       
  2. Perform the following on the next screen:
    1. Review the wallpapers that come pre-installed with vLauncher. 
    2. Tap on a wallpaper to see a full-screen preview.
    3. Tap + to select an image from the ViewBoard's local storage.
       
  3. Tap Set Wallpaper to apply the selected image as the home screen's new background. Note that all changes you make here will be saved to your account and automatically applied the next time you sign in.

Quick Settings

On supported models, the home screen also provides a shortcut to launch the Quick Settings panel. This feature allows easy management of input source options and display/audio settings. To launch this panel, look for the following icons:

 

  • Tap Input source at the bottom-left of the screen
  • Tap Input source on the side toolbar

 

 

 

ViewBoard settings

To configure more advanced settings for your ViewBoard, you will need access to the full settings screen. To launch the Settings screen, perform one of the following:

 

On the remote control:

  1. Press the Menu button.

 

On the remote control:

  1. Press the Input button to open the Source select screen. 
  2. Use the navigational buttons to: 
    1. Move to the ViewBoard OS entry. 
    2. Move to the Settings icon next to it 
  3. Press OK.

 

On the ViewBoard:

  1. Tap the side toolbar button. 
  2. Tap All apps. 
  3. Tap Settings in the app tray.
