EDLA settings

The items below outline which sections can be found on a standard EDLA settings screen. Note that this is not an exact list as the entries may differ depending on your ViewBoard's model, IFP family, firmware version, or updates installed

 

 

Google

Manage your identity and synchronization with Google cloud services.

  • Sign in Access your Google Account to enable personalized service recommendations and app data syncing.
  • Services Tabs Switch between "Recommended" services and "All services" to manage specific Google integrations.

wifi

Network & internet

Configure how the board connects to the local network and the outside world.

  • Ethernet Configure wired LAN settings, including static IP and proxy configurations.
  • Internet Scan for and connect to Wi-Fi networks.
  • Hotspot & tethering Turn the board into a Wi-Fi access point for other nearby devices.
  • Data Saver Prevents background apps from sending or receiving data to save bandwidth.
  • VPN Set up Virtual Private Networks for secure remote access.
  • Share Network Allows devices connected via USB cable to utilize the board's existing internet connection.
  • Private DNS Enhanced security for web requests using custom DNS providers.

Manage physical and wireless peripherals attached to the board.

  • USB Manage hardware connected to the physical USB ports, such as cameras or drives.
  • Pair new device Initiate Bluetooth discovery to connect mice, keyboards, or speakers.
  • Saved devices Manage existing Bluetooth connections and forgotten devices.
  • Connection preferences Access advanced settings for Cast (screen sharing), Printing, and NFC.
  • Audio & Video devices toggle Quickly enable or disable the discovery of Bluetooth multimedia hardware.

apps

Apps

Control application behavior, permissions, and usage monitoring.

  • Recently opened apps Quickly return to or close the apps you have used in the current session.
  • See all apps A full list of installed software, allowing for cache clearing or uninstallation.
  • Default apps Select which apps open web links, or handle voice commands.
  • Screen time View a breakdown of how much time users have spent in specific applications.
  • Cloud media settings Choose which cloud services can access and display photos/videos.
  • Unused apps Optimizes storage by revoking permissions from apps not used for long periods.
  • Special app access Granular permissions for high-level tasks like modifying system settings.

notifications

Notifications

Customize how and when the board alerts you to new information.

  • App notifications Toggle pop-ups and sounds for each specific app.
  • Notification history A log of all recent alerts, even those that were dismissed.
  • Conversations Prioritize specific messaging threads to appear at the top of the list.
  • Bubbles Enable floating interactive icons for active chat apps.
  • Notifications on lock screen Choose whether to show or hide alert content when the screen is locked.
  • Sensitive notifications Hide private information in notifications when the device is secured.
  • Notification cooldown Reduces the volume of multiple rapid alerts from the same app.
  • Flash notifications Uses the screen to flash bright colors to visually alert users.
  • Notification dot Displays a small circle on app icons indicating unread content.

  • Media volume The primary volume slider for videos, music, and apps.
  • Audio routing Select whether sound plays from the built-in speakers or connected external hardware.
  • Audio Adjustment Settings Fine-tune the left/right balance and mono/stereo output.
  • Live Caption Uses AI to generate real-time subtitles for any media with speech.
  • Media Player Control whether playback controls appear in the notification shade.
  • Default notification/alarm Select the ringtones used for system alerts.
  • Tap & click sounds Audible feedback when touching the screen or UI elements.

Modes

Automate system behavior for specific scenarios like teaching or off-hours.

  • Do Not Disturb Silences all sounds and hides visual interruptions immediately.
  • Bedtime mode Schedules the screen to turn grayscale and silences notifications during set hours.
  • Create your own mode Build a custom profile (e.g., "Presentation Mode") with specific silence rules.

Display

Modify visual output and screen behavior for better visibility.

  • Lock screen Customize text and widgets that appear when the board is locked.
  • Screen timeout Choose how long the board stays active without touch before going to standby.
  • Dark theme Toggles a dark UI background to reduce eye strain in dim environments.
  • Display size and text Increase font and icon size for better readability from the back of the room.
  • Screen saver Displays images or colors when the board is idle but powered on.

palette

Wallpaper

Personalize the aesthetic look of your home and lock screens.

  • Screen Selection Apply separate backgrounds for the Home screen and the Lock screen.
  • Clock color & size Customize the style of the clock overlay on the standby screen.
  • Themed icons Adjust app icon colors to match the primary colors of your wallpaper.
  • More Colors Apply a solid color background instead of an image for a cleaner look.

Advanced

Admin-level hardware and boot configurations (Password Protected).

  • Startup & shutdown Set automatic timers for power on/off and configure Energy Star efficiency.
  • Input source Manage how the board detects and labels external HDMI/Type-C inputs.
  • HDMI Out Adjust the resolution for secondary displays mirrored from the board.
  • Smart USB 3.0 Toggles the automatic detection of USB peripherals for active inputs.
  • Security settings Configure the board's master password and manage sideloading permissions.
  • Home button behavior Choose if the physical home button goes to Android or the attached PC (OPS).

storage

Storage

Monitor internal memory usage and manage file capacity.

  • Storage manager Tool to identify and delete large files or clear cached data.
  • Category breakdown A visual list showing how much space is taken by Apps, Videos, and System.
  • Android 16 Shows the fixed space required by the operating system itself.
  • Temporary files Manage system caches and update files that can be safely deleted.

System

Core operating system preferences and maintenance tools.

  • Language & region Set the system-wide language, keyboard layout, and measurement units.
  • Launcher Scheme Select the visual layout style of the home screen and app drawer.
  • Sidebar Enable or disable the floating quick-access menu on the screen edges.
  • Keyboard Configure on-screen typing tools and physical keyboard shortcuts.
  • Gestures Manage touch shortcuts, such as the three-finger swipe or palm erase.
  • Date & time Sync the board's clock via the network and choose time formats.
  • Windows Ink Enable advanced stylus pressure and digital ink features for whiteboard apps.
  • System updates Check for, download, and install the latest firmware over-the-air (OTA).
  • Reset options Wipe all data and restore the board to its factory settings.

Detailed hardware and software identifiers for the board.

  • Device name View the network name of the board (e.g., IFP5541-1).
  • Android version Confirm the board is running Android 16.
  • IP / MAC Addresses Crucial identifiers for IT staff to manage the board on a network.
  • Uptime Shows how long the board has been running since its last restart.
  • Build number The specific firmware revision currently installed.

  • Use location The master toggle for all location-based services.
  • Recent access See which apps have requested the board's physical location recently.

  • Preferred service Set Google or another provider as your primary password manager.
  • Add account Connect additional Google or work accounts to the board.
  • Automatically sync app data Allows apps to update information in the background automatically.

digital_wellbeing

Digital Wellbeing & parental controls

Monitor usage habits and set health-conscious screen limits.

  • Usage Chart A visual donut chart showing how today's time was divided between apps.
  • App timers Set daily limits for specific apps; the app will lock once the limit is reached.
  • Focus mode Pause distracting apps to help maintain concentration during lessons.
  • Heads Up Reminders to look up from the screen if usage has been continuous for too long.

emergency

Safety & emergency

Setup for critical alerts and emergency information.

  • Medical information Store vital info like blood type or allergies for first responders.
  • Emergency contacts Designate people to be notified in the event of an emergency.
  • Emergency SOS Trigger a loud alarm or call for help with a specific hardware gesture.
  • Earthquake alerts Receive regional warnings based on proximity to seismic activity.

Tools to make the board usable for people with diverse needs.

  • TalkBack / Select to Speak Screen readers that provide spoken feedback for blind or low-vision users.
  • Extra dim Reduces the screen brightness below the standard minimum for sensitive eyes.
  • Magnification Allows users to zoom in on any part of the screen using touch gestures.
  • Timing controls Adjust how long the system waits before dismissing temporary pop-ups.
  • Audio description Hear a narration of what is happening on screen in supported media.
