Add user profiles
Devices in shared environments may require switching between different accounts. Follow the steps below to set up multiple user profiles. Each user profile runs in a distinct, sandboxed environment for their apps and files.

Before proceeding, verify that the device meets the following requirements:
- The device has completed the first time Setup Wizard
- The Owner profile is properly configured

Add new usersÂ
Once the Owner profile is ready, follow the steps below to create and manage additional user profiles.

via the Settings app
Use the Settings app to add new users.
Â
Launch the Settings app.
Tap System on the left panel.
Tap Multiple users on the right panel.Â
In some versions, this item may appear as Users.

Tap Add User, then OK.

Name the profile and tap OK.

Tap on the new profile to switch.

Users logging in for the first time will need to go through the Setup Wizard before they can access the home screen.Â

from the lockscreen
To have users add themselves directly from the lock screen, enable the setting below.

Launch the Settings app.
Tap System on the left panel.
Tap Multiple users on the right panel.Â
In some versions, this item may appear as Users.
Toggle Add users from lock screen.
Â
Once enabled, wait for the lockscreen to be active and perform the steps below.

On the lock screen, tap the  user avatar on the upper right.

On the dropdown, select a profile or add new users.
Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

via Notification bar
Users can also add themselves directly from the notification bar.Â

Swipe down from the top of the screen.
Tap the  user icon at the bottom.

Select an existing profile or tap  Add user.

Tap OK to confirm, then follow the same profile creation steps.

Configure the new profile
Users logging in for the first time will need to go through the Setup Wizard before they can access the home screen. To complete the setup process for a new user, follow the steps below.

Go to Settings > System > Multiple users.
Tap the user profile you need to configure.
Tap Switch to this User on the next screen.Â
The first screen of the Setup Wizard appears.

Tap Continue until you reach the Google sign-in page.

Provide a Google account here to enable automatic sign-in on supported apps. Skipping this step means that users will always need to manually sign-in on every Google app.
Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

Connect a Google account
If you need to connect a Google account later, perform the following:

Tap the Settings app to open.
Tap the Google entry on the left panel.
Tap the Sign in link to start the sign in process. Â
Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions to complete setup.
Â
After this process is complete, the connected account will now be used to automatically sign-in in apps that require a Google account (such as Google Drive, or Gmail). Â
