Teacher signin with Canvas
To use a Canvas account with myViewBoard Hub, teachers must link their Canvas account with myViewBoard. After linking, they can use their Canvas login to access the Hub.
First time sign in
Verify that an IT admin has connected the district's Canvas roster in Hub. Sign in using the method used for your existing myViewBoard account (e.g. Google or Microsoft) first. This is a one-time process. Afterwards, teachers can sign in to the Hub with just their Canvas account.
- Go to the myViewBoard Hub Sign In page.
- Select Canvas from the login options.
- Type your school's Canvas account.
- Click Next.
- Once the Canvas login page loads:
- Type your Canvas email and password.
- Click Log In.
- Click Authorize to grant access to myViewBoard.
During first time sign in, myViewBoard Hub offers the following choices:
Use existing account
If you already have a myViewBoard account, we recommend selecting Use existing account to ensure that your existing myViewBoard content appears in the Hub.
- Click the Use existing account option.
- Log in to your existing account using the method you already use for myViewBoard (e.g. Google or Microsoft). Any security step (such as an authenticator approval) still applies.
- A loading screen appears. Wait for the accounts to link.
- If the link was successful:
- Hub loads your Canvas account as the current user.
- Hub sets your Canvas organization as the default.
- Hub performs a sync to pull Canvas data into Hub.
- Find your Canvas class.
- Go to the My Class section.
- Verify that classes from the Canvas roster now appear.
- If you belong to a different organization, use the Switch organization dropdown on the side panel.
After linking, the following conditions now apply:
- Teachers can now sign in to the Hub with Canvas directly. Note that the original login method still works and opens the same account.
- myViewBoard Hub retrieves Class data directly from Canvas. Any changes (ie, add or remove a class) must be made in the Canvas platform.
- Linking your Canvas account adds your district as an organization and makes it the default. Your original organization stays available via the Switch organization dropdown.
Create new account
Teachers who have never used myViewBoard can create an account directly from the Canvas signin screen. Setup takes about a minute and happens only on first signin.
- Click the Create new account option.
- Click Next to accept the ViewSonic account statements.
- Click Confirm after selecting your country from the list.
- Click Continue to accept the myViewBoard and ClassSwift terms.
- Setup is complete once you land on the Hub home page.
- Your school organization should now auto-sync data from the Canvas roster.
- Open My Class to view all classes synced from Canvas.
- Check the student list. Open a class to see the full roster, including any groups created in Canvas.
After linking, the following conditions now apply:
- Once the account is created, teachers can signin directly using a Canvas account.
- Classes and students come from the Canvas roster and refresh every 24 hours.
- If you already have a myViewBoard account, select Use existing account instead to ensure that your existing content appears in the Hub.
Sign in via Companion
In a class with an IFP display, teachers can use the Companion app to sign in to the myViewBoard app with the same Canvas account used in Hub. Canvas sign-in is done through the Companion app on a mobile phone.

- Using the sign out or close actions on the myViewBoard app (on the IFP) does not sign you out of Companion.
Troubleshooting
Common errors and how to resolve them.
⚠️
Hub creates a second, empty account.
Create new account was selected instead of Use existing account. Contact support to merge the accounts.
⚠️
The district organization is missing after sign-in.
Linking takes a few seconds. Refresh the page, then check Switch organization. If it is still missing, confirm with IT that your Canvas account is part of a school that was synced.
⚠️
My Class is empty.
Confirm in Canvas that you are enrolled as the teacher of the course. Courses with no teacher enrollment are skipped during sync.
⚠️
My Class is empty after sign-in.
Confirm in Canvas that the course is published and that you are enrolled as its teacher, then check with IT that your school was included in the sync.
