Intune setup for Manager

This article describes how to configure Microsoft Intune to enable the full feature set of the ViewSonic Manager app on an enrolled ViewBoard.

Before you begin

  • You must have Intune Administrator permissions (or an equivalent custom role).
  • The board must already be enrolled in Intune and added to a security group. For more details on the enrollment steps, see the article below:
  • Install the Manager app on the board via Managed Google Play before applying any policy. For more details on installation process, see the article below:

Default working functions

After installing the Manager app, only a small subset of functions will work by default. Admins must create and assign a Device Restrictions policy to enable specific features.

Allow installation from unknown sources

Since Manager does not install apps from the Google Play Store, enable this setting to use the Manager app's install/uninstall function. Steps to enable will depend on the device's management mode:

  • Fully managed, dedicated, or corporate-owned devices:
    • Applications » Allow installation from unknown sources » Allow.

  • Corporate-owned work profile devices:
    • Personal profile » Allow users to enable app installation from unknown sources in the personal profile » Allow.

This setting is not required for apps installed via Managed Google Play, since those come from a trusted source.
