MSP tasks
This document outlines a quick summary of what MSP partners should perform when setting up a new Entity.
Entity sign up process
Organizations requesting to be an Entity must use this form to sign up.
-
Request Entity form
The MSP must ensure that all required information has been filled up.
Standard entity concepts
To help organizations fill this form, the MSP must be familiar with the following concepts:
-
Entity types
The MSP decides an entity type which is appropriate for a given organization. Entity types are based on the email domain that will be used as the main domain.
-
Entity benefits
The MSP must be able to enumerate the benefits of becoming an entity.
-
Roles required for entity creation
Organizations must specify the following required user roles during registration: Owner and Administrator.
-
Network setup
The MSP must assist the organization in ensuring that the environment is set up to work properly within the ViewSonic ecosystem.
After Entity creation
Wait for a ViewSonic admin to approve the entity request. The approval process activates the email addresses of both Owner and Admin for use in the ViewSonic Entity portal. Once activated, The entity owner and admin can start using their emails to log in to the ViewSonic Entity portal.
-
Sign in to the ViewSonic Entity portal
The ViewSonic Entity portal contains settings that affect the whole entity. Review the sections and get familiar with the actions that can be taken in each section.
-
Set up the Entity domain
Admins must first setup the domain that will be used to verify the email addresses of all users. Depending on the Entity type set during registration, only users that match the domain can be added to the Entity. Admins will not be able to add users if the domain info is invalid or missing.
-
Add or import users into the Entity
The Users section will show the Entity owner and admin as the only users after entity creation. Admins can add users individually, upload by batch, or auto-sync with a supported platform to populate the user list.
-
Assign Entity roles to users
Once the user list is populated, Admins gain the ability to delegate specific roles in the ViewSonic Entity portal to selected users.
Adding users
This section lists several methods to add users to the entity. All methods are performed on the Users section of the VS Entity portal.
-
By Individual email
Add a user by specifying email address
-
CSV batch import
Add multiple users by uploading a CSV file
-
SSO - Google Workspace
Add users from Google Workspace via auto-sync
-
SSO - Microsoft Entra ID
Add users from MS Entra via auto-sync
-
SSO - Microsoft SCIM
Add users from MS via SCIM
After adding users
All user info will now be shared across all ViewSonic products and services. Admins must now manually select users who can perform administrative tasks for each service.
- Login to the ViewSonic dashboard with an Owner or Admin account.
- Use the app tiles to launch one of the following services:
● myViewBoard
● Manager - On first run, the apps will start populating its user list from the VS Entity data. Wait for the list to load. By default, everyone is assigned to the User role.
- Admins must now specify which users should have admin rights. Note that the steps for granting admin rights vary for each service.
For information on how to set up users as Admin for each service, follow the guides below:
